Alfredo Manuel Sousa, 83, devoted Husband - Father - Papa, of Tillsonburg, Ontario passed away May 4, 2024, at Sakura House in Woodstock, surrounded by his loving family.
Alfredo was born in 1941, to Manuel and Silvana Sousa, in Sao Miguel, Azores. He immigrated to Canada in 1957 with his family. He met the love of his life Katherine Elizabeth Musch in 1961 when he came to work in tobacco for her Dad. Alfredo and Kathy were married in 1965 and soon after welcomed their first child, Aldora. The family grew as they welcomed daughters Gloria and Monica into their lives. After a short time living in Mississauga, Ontario they made Tillsonburg their home. He then started his own business Tillsonburg Vinyl Siding for 30+ years, with his brother, from which he retired.
Through the years Alfredo enjoyed his hobby farm, his pigeons and he had his wine making skills down to an art. He was known for his hospitality and his conversation. If you stopped by you were always offered a glass of his Portuguese wine and whatever yummy morsel of food Kathy had prepared. He enjoyed travel to his homeland with Kathy to visit, but his home was truly his family. Being a Father and a ‘Papa’ came naturally to Alfredo. He had a huge heart and was full of affection for each one. The memories he created with them will be cherished forever. Alfredo leaves a beautiful legacy, and spiritual heritage to all his family, in which we have comfort in the hope of seeing him again soon.
Alfredo is survived by his wife, Katherine ‘Kathy’, their children, Aldora (Eldon) Bracken, Gloria (Shawn) Rattray, Monica (Dwayne) Stadey, eight grandchildren Sydney (Clayton), Alexander (Sabrina), Taylor, Wesley, Blake, Katie-Lyn, Hayden and Reece, his brothers Manuel (Elaine), and Liberal (Zelia), sister Lucy Soares, many nephews, nieces, cousins, and brothers and sisters-in-law, and dear friends.
Alfredo may have lost his battle with liver cancer, but never his sense of humor or his faith. The family wishes to extend their most heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jennifer Jeffries, the Palliative Home Care team – Dr. Jamal and Nurses Sharon and Suzanne; the Paramedic In-Home program, and the exceptional, dedicated Staff at Sakura House. In his memory donations can be made to donate.jw.org or VON Sakura House Woodstock, Ontario.
Cremation has taken place as per Alfredo’s wishes. There will be a Memorial Service at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses Tillsonburg in early June, the date to be announced when arrangements have been completed. Wareing Cremation Services, 346 Simcoe St., Tillsonburg was entrusted with Final Arrangements. Your messages of remembrance and condolence may be shared here at wareingcremation.ca
