Ann Danielle “Dannie” Palen (Nee Hatton)

Dannie passed away peacefully with her family by her side after a brief illness at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Friday August 25 2023, in her 85th year. Devoted wife of the late Mervin Palen (1993).
Loving Mum of her children, Shelley Vermeersch (Terry) of Delhi, Bradley (Deb) of Aylmer, Chris of Tillsonburg, and Rennie (Kelly Vandepoele) of Delhi. Dear sister of Roberta McMurchy (Jim) of Otterville.  Lovingly remembered by her best friends Mary and Bill Fulkerson, brother in law Robert Cronkwright, her numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and the extended family.
Predeceased by her parents Jack and Elva Hatton (nee Roberts), sisters Mary Lou Cronkwright, and Janice (Murray) Palen.
Dannie was born in Chatham, raised in Otterville, and was a PSW for many years helping the community members of Tillsonburg.
Once Merv captured her heart – they managed a large successful dairy farm along with Merv’s twin brother Murray in Ostrander, with their families. Dannie was always a tom boy and was never intimidated by hard work on the farm, she was a free-spirited soul and cared deeply for the people and family around her. Her last years were at her home in Tillsonburg tending to the community wildlife – ensuring they were well taken care of.
Special thanks to Dr. Inculet and the 2nd floor south Staff at TDMH with everything they did for Mum, and to all of her Caregivers at Courtland Caressant Care; Dannie’s sideways wit surely kept everyone in line and she loved you all.
She will be forever missed, and we are happy she has rejoined Merv to dance among the stars.
Until we meet again.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations will be graciously accepted by the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital Foundation.
