Peacefully with her family by her side, Audrey Diane Service passed away on June 1st, 2026, at Woodstock Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, in her 71st year.
Deeply loved by her, and devastated by her loss are her two boys and daughters-in-law, Jerome and Marci Yeoman, and Justin Service and Paulina Izienicka. Audie leaves her beloved grandchildren mourning her loss Destiny Ross (Adrian), Brennan Yeoman (Hope), Cole Yeoman, Ben Service, and Luke Service. Audie was great grandma to Wynona Ross-Van Dongen. Mom’s passing has left her best friend and companion Maynard Chase completely heartbroken. Maynard’s strength, compassion, devotion and never-ending love was always by Mom’s side during her short but courageous battle against cancer. Supporting Maynard, and missing Audie just as much, are his loving family members, Mary and Ben Bachl, Arnold Chase and Bev Chetwynd, Rose Dillman and family, Pat and Jackie Hickey, Bob Deschamp, Rudy and Tonya Wosing, Josie and Reg Lonsberry, Holly and Keith Craven, Ed and Sarah Chase and family, and Michelle and Otto Samuels. Audie is also survived by her brothers-in-law Rick Kumor and Doug Black. She will be remembered by her niece Joey Kumor, and her stepbrothers Jim and Arlene Service, and Bob Service. Predeceased by and now reunited with, Audie joins her grandmother Nellie Van Herman, her aunt Diane Hookstra, and her sisters Jeanie Kumor and Mickey Black. Together again with her beloved German Sheppard, Mia.
As we remember Mom’s life and see the flowers in bloom and the gardens coming to life, we think of all the simple things in life mom enjoyed. A day at the beach, of course including fresh cut fries dipped in mayo and an ice cream cone for the drive home. Mom could always be found in her gardens nurturing her beautiful roses. Mom had many talents but for sure her handmade crafts, skillfully made quilts, and her beautifully crocheted blankets were our favourites. Mom and Maynard worked hard every year to collect and lovingly make maple syrup for us to have a never-ending supply. Mom’s day always started with her daily trip to Timmy’s for her signature XL 4x4, then continuing to Southside Park to enjoy nature while sending out her early good morning texts of “Have a great day“, and always “I love you“. Boy, do we miss those already …..
Audie was kind, caring, beyond generous and always saw the good in everyone. Her career at Children’s Aid Society was evident in that. Mom and her beloved Mia worked hard together and Mia became a therapy dog for St. John’s. The two together visited weekly nursing homes to brighten and add happiness to others lives. A few years back, Mom was an ovarian cancer survivor and later spent countless hours crocheting cancer ribbons, then selling them to raise money for a generous donation to LHSC cancer research.
Thank you to all of Mom’s family and friends that visited and sent kind words when Mom was in her final days. We were lucky enough to have some really good days with Mom the last week. This was made possible by the amazing nurses, doctors and staff 2200 unit WH. Their compassionate care and keeping Mom comfortable will never be forgotten. We can’t thank you enough.
Audie loved her family and friends more than anything. Our hearts are broken, but knowing Mom is at peace, gives us comfort. Mom was an avid angel collector, now she has gained her angel wings, flying high watching over all of us!
As per Audie’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place. A private family memorial will take place at a later date. If so desired, donations can be made in Audrey’s name to St. John's Ambulance.
