Barbara Helen Pimm (nee Japp)
February 10, 1936 – March 21, 2021

It is with profound sadness we announce the death of our mother Barb after a brief illness. She was 85.  Pre-deceased by her husband of 60 years, Ted (Edward) Pimm, in 2016, Mom will be missed by four daughters; Jeannine (Andrew); Kerry (Tony); Beverley (Lou), and Beth; grandchildren Meagan, Scott (Kelsey), Brian, Jim, Claudia, Ben, and Ellen, and great-grandson Wyatt.  She will also be fondly remembered by sister and brother-in-law June and Lory LaRose.

An excellent hostess, Mom loved to entertain family or friends for any reason and could pull a party together even if she only had a jar of pickles and a box of saltines on hand. She had a great sense of humour and loved to hear a good joke, although Mom could not tell a joke to save her soul.  She enjoyed spending an afternoon beside a swimming pool or on a beach, her toes in the sand, with a good book and a drink.  Mom loved to cut a rug if the right tune was playing and enjoyed seeing live music and theatre.  She dressed with style and welcomed the occasion where a hat could be her accessory of choice.

Mom had a profound love of history--she always wanted to join an archeological dig, always hoped to find an arrowhead in her garden, was an avid Jeopardy fan, and could complete a crossword puzzle in pen--because she could.  She loved to travel and could be ready to go anywhere given ten minutes’ notice.  She made trips to England, Scotland, Greece, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Malta, Italy, and Sicily.  Missed going to Australia, but had fond memories of Bermuda.

Gifted with great ability to listen and common sense, she was a mentor, a role model, and a friend to those who knew her.  Mom left this world with dignity and grace surrounded by family. Her passing has left a large hole in our lives and she is already sorely missed.

We thank Dr. W. Cheng for his friendship, and kind and compassionate care.

Cremation has taken place and given these unique times a get-together may be arranged if and when conditions allow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Canada or the MS Society of Canada would be appreciated.
