It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Baba, Barbara May Pozza, née Boychuk, on September 21, 2024, at the age of 77. Barb was born on December 1, 1946, in Toronto, Ontario, and spent her formative years in Dunnville, Ontario. She was the beloved daughter of the late Ronny Boychuk and Laura Dolan.
Barb is survived by her devoted brother Norman Boychuk and his wife Donna, and was a cherished Aunt to their children, Alana and Tristan Fuller, and Greg and Justyna Boychuk. She was a proud great-Aunt to Ellis, Kai, and Greta. Barb's legacy lives on through her loving children, Kristine and her husband Michael McMahon, and their children Anakin, Francis, Filomena, Shannon, and Leona; her son Matthew and his children Ava, Georgia, and Neely. Barb was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Christie Pozza and granddaughter Emma
Barb was a woman of deep kindness and warmth, whose love for her family was the guiding force in her life. She found joy in dreaming about family gatherings, envisioning the delicious meals and togetherness that these moments would bring. Although poor health often made it difficult for her to attend family events in person over the last few years, Barb cherished staying connected from a distance, whether by phone or internet. Barb was an avid reader, listened to many genres of music from her vast collection of CDs, and loved animals. Her love for sports, especially the Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays, brought her great joy, as did the music of the Shevchenko Musical Ensemble and Men's Choir.
Above all, Mom embodied the true meaning of life, placing the well-being of her loved ones above her own. Her nurturing spirit and selflessness left an indelible mark on all who knew her. We will miss her greatly but will remember her when we see a Blue Jay telling us we are going in the right direction.
The family will honor and celebrate Barb's life at a later date when all can gather to remember her with love. Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association-Thames Valley.
