In the 95th year of a wonderful long life, in the loving comfort of family on June 23, 2026 Bertha Elizabeth Binns (nee Strickert) passed away peacefully following a short illness, at Woodstock Hospital.

Bertha, predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Clifford (2009), leaves to celebrate her life and mourn her passing, her devoted children James, Nancy, and David.  Missing her enduring presence and strength are her grandchildren Daniel (Erika and her children Giselle and Theo), Tyler, James (Katerina), and Franklin (Vera).  Grieving her are great grandchildren Harrison, Fiona and Daphne.  Mom is survived by her youngest sister Janet (Garry) Wolfe and her sister – in - law Donna Strickert.  Aunt Bertha will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and their families.  Predeceased by her parents John and Mary Strickert, sisters Marion Frame, Ruthann MacLeod, brother Roy Strickert, great grandchildren Arianna and Ezra, brothers and sisters – in - law John MacLeod, Donald and Enid Binns and James and Ann Binns.

Bertha had a fulfilling and rewarding career in a management role with the Province of Ontario at the Oxford Regional Centre and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.  A wonderful cook, baker and hostess, Mom brought us, and many of our friends, together in their home for fabulous meals and every holiday and monumental occasion.

Prior to, and in retirement, Mom and Dad enjoyed their cottage at Huron Shores in Kingsbridge, Ontario on Lake Huron, sharing those memorable times with their children and grandchildren, family and friends.  Bertha was an enthusiastic fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Maple Leafs and would call to check if you were watching the game. Her love and support for her children and grandchildren in all of their endeavors, activities and achievements will always be remembered with fondness.  Mom was especially proud and excited recently when her grandson James was “Called to the Bar” on June 19, 2026 in London Ontario.

The family has planned a Celebration of Bertha’s Life on Sunday July 12, 2026 from 1 to 4 p.m., with a memorial presentation at 2p.m., refreshments to follow, at the Unifor Hall, 126 Beale Street, Woodstock, Ontario.  Mom will forever rest with dad at the Anglican Cemetery, Woodstock, Ontario.  Memorial donations may be made to a local charity of your choice in memory of a remarkable life.  Bertha always had a special place in heart for the pets, especially dogs in our and all of her relatives families.
