Peacefully at home on Tuesday April 5, 2022, with family by his side, Bill lost his battle with cancer.
Bill is survived by his wife Elva; children Steve Hayes (Oeun), and Catherine (Daren); his seven much loved grandchildren, Tony, Melanie (Dan), Sommer, Samantha, Matthew, Emily, Justin; his sister Susan Dorsman (John Davidson), and brother George Hayes. Predeceased by mother Mary Hayes (2005), father George Hayes (1987), nephew Trevor Dorsman (1992), and brother in law Bill Dorsman (1994).
Bill’s love of golf and fishing are legendary. He was several times the Club Champion at the Ingersoll Golf and Country Club. Stories of his rounds, and antics, will live forever and the friendships he built….too many to count. With the golf course in his rearview mirror, Bill headed for his other passion, fishing on the Pickerel River. He spent many hours with friends, family, and his beloved dogs fishing and telling stories.
Bill will be forever remembered and loved by many.
A huge thank you to Bill’s oncology team, his palliative care team, and the friends who took time to visit.
Memorial donations in honour of Bill made to the Canadian Cancer Society, and to Sakura House are appreciated and may be made directly, or (by cheque made out to the Canadian Cancer Society or to Sakura House) through Wareing Cremation Services, 225 Norwich Avenue, Woodstock, Ontario N4S 3V8 who have been entrusted with final arrangements.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
