Bruce Winter

February 13, 1955 — July 2, 2025

Woodstock, Ontario

Bruce Charles Winter, 70, of Woodstock, Ontario, passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 2, 2025, at Sakura House in Woodstock.  Bruce was born on February 13, 1955, in Galt, Ontario, to Leonard Ivan Winter and Mary Mildred Dawson, who predeceased him.  He was the beloved husband of the late Jean Winter.

Bruce spent many years working as a bartender at Lulu’s Roadhouse, where he met countless people and shared many amazing stories.  An avid hunter, he cherished early mornings in the woods, always in pursuit of the biggest buck.  Born on the 13th, Bruce had a special fondness for Friday the 13th events in Port Dover, where he was a regular fixture.  He also had a passion for scuba diving and travel, often heading to Tobermory or taking the ferry to Manitoulin Island to visit, and lovingly pester, his favourite sister, Carol.

A skilled millwright, Bruce could fix just about anything put in front of him.  In retirement, he embraced life at the campground—surrounded by friends, enjoying potlucks, themed parties, swimming, and sharing stories around the fire.  He and Jean shared a love for road trips and spent many weekends exploring backroads, visiting garage sales, small town shops, and collecting treasures from across Ontario and beyond.  He especially loved the holidays, spending days setting up elaborate displays for his grandchildren and the many neighbours who came by to admire them.

Bruce is survived by his sister Carol Windover and brother Grant (Lori) Winter.  He will be deeply missed by his daughter, Cpl. Jennifer Winter (Tyler) of Greenwood, Nova Scotia, stepdaughter Nichole Ashton of Cambridge, Ontario, and stepson Bradly Mouck (BL) of Langdon, Alberta.  He was a proud grandfather to Ryan Mouck, Aaliyah Jordan, Kayla Mouck, Zoe Mouck, and Corbyn Mouck.  Uncle to Kyle, Cory, Kevin and Amanda.

Bruce's presence, stories, laughter, and generous spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
