Carol Beedie

          It is with devastating sadness that we announce the passing of a strong, generous and impactful soul. Carol Beedie (nee Broughton) passed away at Woodstock Hospital, surrounded by family, on October 10, 2026.  Carol was the pillar of family and friendships, always wanting to help and give whatever was needed, share a meal, tell a story and make anyone feel welcome and like family.  Every birthday was a celebration and she was the life of the party!

          Carol will be sorely missed by her sons, Brian Beedie and Michael Makarewicz, and her daughter (in law) Heather Beedie.  She was a very special Meema to grandchildren Cody and Leah Beedie and Michael Layton and her great grandchildren.  Carol is survived by her sisters Roxanne (Lynn) Decroo and Connie Eastman (Paul Johnston), brother in-law Raymond Cunningham and sister in-law Cathy Broughton.  She will be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins and many lifelong friends.  Carol was predeceased by her infant son George David Beedie (1966), her parents Leamon and Eleanor Broughton, brother Earl Broughton, sister Linda Cunningham and common law spouse Larry Thompson.

          She was born in Walsingham, Ontario and had many memories of the family farm, and adventures around the area.  She also worked tobacco and for many years delivered the Shopping news and Sentinel review.

          A Celebration of Carol's life will take place Sunday November 8, 2026, from 1 to 5 p.m., at the Unifor 636 Hall, 126 Beale St, Woodstock, Ontario.  In memory of Carol donations of cash or cheque to Operation Sharing will be accepted at the Celebration of her life, in honor of her giving spirit and need to help others.  She can continue to share a meal.  Carol will be interred beside her son George at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Walsingham, Ontario in the Spring.
