Cheryl Ann Hastie passed away peacefully on Sunday February 22, 2026, with her son Jesse by her side, at Sakura House in Woodstock, Ontario. She was 69 years old.
Born on February 28, 1956, in Woodstock, Ontario, Cheryl was the youngest of three children born to Mary and Joseph Hastie. She spent her life in the community she loved, forming lasting friendships and leaving a meaningful impression on all who knew her.
Cheryl was well known throughout Woodstock for her many years of dedicated service. She began her career at Loeb grocery store when it first opened and remained there until its closing. She later worked at Vuteq Canada for nearly 20 years, retiring in 2022. Even in retirement, Cheryl’s warm and welcoming nature drew her back to work at The Wine Rack, where she enjoyed being a familiar and friendly face to customers until her health no longer allowed her to continue.
Cheryl will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit. She had a remarkable talent for quilting and lovingly created beautiful, one-of-a-kind quilts for her family and friends - gifts that will continue to provide comfort for years to come. She also enjoyed golfing, playing darts at the local Legion, and cheering on her beloved Philadelphia Eagles every Sunday.
Cheryl is lovingly remembered by her son Jesse Hastie and his wife Pamela Morris-Hastie, her cherished grandsons Mason, Reid, and Emmett Hastie, her brothers Kevin Hastie (Patsey McCrae), and Donald Hastie, as well as extended family and many friends. She was predeceased by her father Joseph Hastie (1999), and her mother Mary Hastie (2010).
A Celebration of Life open house will be held Sunday March 8, 2026, from 1 to 4 p.m., at the Woodstock Royal Canadian Legion Branch 55, 642 Dundas St., Woodstock, Ontario. A private graveside service will be held in the Spring at Oxford Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Cheryl’s memory may be made to VON Sakura House, whose compassionate care brought comfort to Cheryl and her family.
