David Devos

David Anthony DeVos
February 9, 1957 - April 17, 2023
It is with shock and sadness that we must announce that David passed suddenly at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital after suffering a stroke.
In life, you may have seen him roaming the natural areas and parks here in Tillsonburg with his dog, observing wildlife and enjoying the beauty of the landscape. David enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren - playing cards, teaching his grandson to play chess, and proudly watching them play hockey and baseball. His greatest passion was fishing and boating on Lake Erie with his buddy Ron.  They spent many summer days together, drifting and talking about life. Residing at Long Point for many years, he loved barbeques with family and friends.  David was an avid photographer and especially loved capturing family members and the many moods of the water and sky.
David is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Barbara (nee Saunders) of 25 years; his sons Triese and wife Lee, and James of London; his mother Emma Phillips and step father Jim (deceased April 2023); siblings Richard (Colleen), Danny (Gloria), Michael, Darlene (Frank) Peel, Cathy (Bryan) Krebs, and many nieces and nephews.  Remembered by his stepson Trevor (Jessica) Brown, grandchildren Wyatt and Addison, sister in law Judy Krafft (nee Saunders), and niece Robin.  He was predeceased by his father Joseph DeVos (2015).  David retired from Ford Motor Company in Talbotville, where he worked from 1978 to 2008, leaving behind many friends.
We will miss his stories, his support, and his smile.  We are grieving his departure.
We are respecting David’s wishes and following his cremation his ashes will be scattered in Lake Erie, without ceremony, so that he can spend eternity in the place where he found the most peace in life
A special thank you to Wareing Cremation Services in Tillsonburg for their support and kindness.  David raised and trained many canine companions and loved all animals therefore memorial donations to the Simcoe and District Humane Society are appreciated and may be made directly, or by cheque through Wareing Cremation Services, 346 Simcoe Street, Tillsonburg, Ontario N4G 2J8.
