On November 19, 2023, Debbie Stott passed away peacefully at age 65 after a sudden and devastating brain cancer diagnosis. She survived breast cancer in 2021 and bravely faced her latest diagnosis with the unwavering support of her husband and family.
Debbie was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Debbie is survived by her husband Greg Stott and her children Brian (Amanda), Gordon (Alannah), Robbie (Sarah) and Carrie-Ann (Dave), her siblings Lori, Karen (Gord), Jeff (Lynn) and her grandchildren June, Greer, Lily, Liam, Ivor, Angus, Fallon. Debbie was predeceased by her parents Dorothea and Murray Campbell, and by Rose and Harold Stott, in-laws she held very dear.
In 1972 Debbie met the love of her life, Greg Stott, and they wed in 1979. They lived together in the Waterloo Region for 31 years before relocating to Victoria Harbour in 2010. Debbie was a loving wife and supportive life partner. Throughout their 44-year marriage, they built a beautiful family, shared countless memories on their boats, and cared for several four-legged friends. The bond they shared was a testament to the enduring power of love and partnership.
Debbie was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. She will be remembered for her loving hugs, supportive guidance, and delicious baking and cooking. Debbie looked after each member of her family with care and dedication. Her children will remember her for nurturing warmth, family dinner on Sundays and how she put them first in everything she did. Her grandchildren will remember her precious snuggles, week-long summer vacations, and how she made each of them feel important and loved. Debbie had a long career in nursing where she cared for her patients as if they were an extension of her family. She worked as a nurse for over 20 years at Grand River Hospital where she was a compassionate and supportive caregiver. Beyond retirement, Debbie lovingly continued to provide her medical advice and guidance to her kids and grandkids for all sorts of bumps and bruises. Debbie will be remembered fondly for the warmth, kindness and love that touched the lives of everyone she knew.
While Debbie’s family grieves their loss, they are choosing to remember Debbie in a way that honours her generous, loving, and caring spirit.
