Deciderio Pacheco de Melo

          It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Deciderio de Melo at his home on Sunday May 10, 2026, at the age of 97.

          Deciderio was the devoted husband of Virgilia (née Oliveira) for 68 wonderful years.  Loving father of George, Philomena (David), Thomas (Lynn), Betty, Stella (Scott), and Marcia (Gary).  Proud and cherished Grandpa of Justin (Courtney), Cole, Evan (Mason), Madlen (Coleton), Ethan (Jodie), Megan (Brandon), Ben, Chloe, Emma, Gage, Jack, and Luke, and treasured Great-Grandpa of Josiah and Asher.

          Born in São Miguel, Azores, Deciderio immigrated to Canada in 1954.  Through hard work and perseverance, he built a life rooted in farming — a vocation he deeply loved and took immense pride in.  His connection to the land was evident in the joy and fulfillment he found working in his fields throughout his life.  He also became a respected and valued member of the Portuguese community.

          Deciderio ‘Don’ will be fondly remembered for his warm sense of humor, his world class whistling, and most of all, for the deep love he had for his family.  His kindness, strength, and joyful spirit touched all who knew him.  He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by his family, many nieces and nephews, and dear friends.

          A private family Service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
