Donald R. Roose

          With heavy hearts and profound sadness that we share that our brother, Uncle, and friend, Donald Richard Roose, passed away on Monday March 31, 2025, in his 77th year, at Woodingford Lodge, Woodstock, Ontario.  Survived by his sister Margaret Jakucinskas, and his nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his parents Albert and Judy Roose, his brother Charlie, his brother-in-law Kris Jakucinskas, and his sister-in-law Janet Roose.

         Born and raised in Tillsonburg, Ontario, Donald spent many years working on the family farm, plus years working at the Tobacco Auction Exchange, and for the Tillsonburg Parks cutting grass.  He enjoyed fishing and gardening, and before his illness you would find him socializing at the Legion every Friday!  Donald loved animals, especially dogs.  He was kind and loving with an infectious smile and laugh.  Don’s presence was a source of love and comfort.  He brought joy and laughter to all of our lives.  He will be forever missed and will remain in our hearts.

         With sincere thanks to Dr. Roth, Nurses, PSW’s, and Staff at Woodingford Lodge Woodstock for their excellent care provided to Donald daily.  Also, many thanks to Southwest LHIN, Carepartners, PSW’s, and the VON Day Program for their kindness and compassion in the ten years Donald lived with his sister Margaret in Tillsonburg.

         A private Celebration of Life is planned for a later date with interment in the Tillsonburg Cemetery.  Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society Southwest Partners or Parkinson Canada are appreciated.
