Earle W. Barr

Earle William Barr passed away on January 3, 2022 at the age of 88. A devoted husband, he leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Frances, a brother Bruce, and two sons, Stephen and Kevin.

Earle was first and foremost an artist. Born in Toronto, his early arts training as a student of Group of Seven member Arthur Lismer led to a career in the graphic arts.  A gifted draftsman, originally a painter, in later years he became a professional nature photographer.  In addition, he worked with textiles, creating a unique art form he called ‘woolpainting’.  In his final years, Earle would turn to digital media, creating extraordinary vivid works on his trusty Mac.

Earle and Francis retired to Port Carling, Ontario in the early 90’s.  There they opened the Seeking Beauty Gallery devoted to nature photography and operated the website barrart.ca.  Moving to Tillsonburg in 2010, they quickly became active in the local arts community, displaying their works in gallery shows and local publications much as they had done in Muskoka. His paintings, prints and woolpaintings are cherished by his family, a lasting tribute to a fine man who never stopped creating.

Cremation has taken place. Wareing Cremation Services, 346 Simcoe St., Tillsonburg, Ontario has been entrusted with final arrangements.  Your messages of remembrance and condolence may be shared here at wareingcremation.ca
