Edward Galkowski

February 9, 1951 — June 7, 2026

Drumbo, Ontario

It is with deep sadness and full hearts that the family of Edward 'Ed Ski' Galkowski announces his peaceful passing at home in Drumbo, Ontario on June 7, 2026, at the age of 75.

Ed was the beloved husband of Robin (nee Garland) Galkowski.  Together they built a life full of love, laughter, and family — a partnership that spanned 49 years, with a 50th anniversary just around the corner in October.  He will be profoundly missed by Robin and by all who were lucky enough to truly know him.

Ed was a proud and devoted family man in every sense of the word.  He spent his career behind the wheel as a truck driver, logging countless miles with the quiet dedication that defined everything he did.  And if Willie Nelson was playing on the radio, all the better.  But it was at home — as a husband, father, and Papa — where he was most himself.  His dry, sarcastic sense of humour was entirely his own; not everyone always got it, but the ones who truly knew him loved him all the more for it.  You could usually find him in a funny tee that said exactly what he was thinking, even when he wasn't saying a word.

He was the cherished father of Tasha Cooper (Steve) of Ingersoll, Maria Gambacort (Jeremy) of Innerkip, and Eddie Galkowski of Drumbo.  He was the beloved Papa to Cameron, Courtney, Silas, and Autumn, who will carry his humour, his heart, and his spirit with them always.

Ed was the dear son of the late Ludwik and Maria (nee Szczerbak) Galkowski.  He is survived by his sister Pauline Galkowski-Zileff (Adam) of Brechin, Ontario, and his brothers Andre Galkowski of Arnprior and John 'Brownie/Bron' Galkowski of Arnprior.  He was predeceased by his sister Emilia 'Meo' Herbert, and his brothers Jan, Walter, and Antoni 'Tony' Galkowski.

Cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday August 8, 2026, beginning at 2:00 p.m., at Hope Church, 64 Blandford St, Innerkip, Ontario.  Family and friends are warmly welcomed to come and share in remembering a man who was, above all else, exactly himself.
