F. John Harris

        With much love, we announce the passing of Frederick "John" Harris in his 82nd year.  

       John shared a wonderful life with his beloved and adored wife, Kathleen (nee Stirling) recently celebrating a remarkable 57 years of marriage.  His dream of having a family was fulfilled through his son Scott and daughter Shelley (Marco) Jaeger.  He adored his grandchildren, the lights of his life, Peyton and Aubryn. Dearly loved son of the late Ted and Evelyn Harris of Brownsville.  Fondly remembered by his treasured twin sister Jean Watkins. Dear brother-in-law to Viola Harris, Anne (Tim) Millard, David (Gina) Stirling, and Brian Stirling (Vicki).  Predeceased by his brother Stephen and brother-in-law Doug Watkins. John was such a family man, who adored his nieces, nephews, cousins, wonderful friends, and his sidekick grandpup, Molly.

 Raised in Brownsville, Ontario, John enjoyed recounting daily Brownsville stories and encounters. John was a devoted Ontario Provincial Police Constable for 30 years, serving in Downsview, Toronto, Whitby, and ultimately putting down roots in Tillsonburg, Ontario.  His police family circle bestowed lifelong friendships.  His gentle, calm, and kind ways promised his community that they would be protected with fairness and respect.   John was well-loved by countless friends and family – his favorite thing in life was to be with others and to make them happy with his wit and cheeky sense of humour.  He never wanted to miss a thing.  His passions included playing softball, endless card and cribbage games, relaxing with Kathleen, golfing, shopping, napping, working on the yard, playing with his kids and grandkids, celebrating, watching the Leafs and Jays, and travelling.

An immense “thank you” to those who touched our family's life, supporting John on his final earthly journey - Dr. J. Andrew, Dr. M. Borrie, the Alzheimer's Society Southwest Partners team, the Staff at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital and the brief, yet wonderful care at Woodingford Lodge, Tillsonburg.  To his dear family and friends who visited, you made this time of transition so meaningful.  For those wishing to make a donation in John’s honour, his family would appreciate supporting the Alzheimer’s Society Southwest Partners at www.alzswp.ca.

At John's request, please join us for a Celebration of his Life on Sunday July 21, 2024, from 1 to 4 p.m., at the Carriage Hall, 25 Brock Street West, Tillsonburg.  His final resting place will be the Delmer Cemetery.
