We are saddened to announce the passing of Faye Louise (née Gaskin) Wirth on Monday October 12, 2026, at the age of 85.
Born on July 9, 1941, in Tillsonburg, Ontario, Faye grew up on the family farm with her parents, Harvey and Elba, and many cousins in the close‑knit community of Guysborough, Ontario. As an only child, she formed deep and lasting friendships that enriched and supported her throughout her life. Faye loved her family and friends wholeheartedly. She married Herman “Bud” Wirth on July 3, 1963, and together they built a life on the Goshen Road grounded in love, kindness, and devotion. Faye was a dedicated mother to her daughters, Tracy and Tia; her sons‑in‑law, Brian Ready (Tracy) and Jim Alexander (Tia); and a proud, doting grandmother to Andrea, Erin, and Sawyer. She will be missed by many cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Faye earned her degree from the University of Western Ontario and later completed Teacher’s College. Her career as a teacher brought her immense joy and introduced her to many cherished friendships. She began her career teaching high school French in Smithville, Ontario, before returning to Tillsonburg, where she spent most of her teaching career in local public schools, including Elliott Fairburn Public School, Tillson Avenue Public School, and Rolph Street Public School. “Madame Wirth” held countless little hands on the playground and was always quick to offer warm hugs to students and colleagues. Her classroom balanced fun with respect, and she enforced her rules with the help of her trusty “Brick.” Former students often shared that “Madame was my favourite teacher,” and many credit her with fostering their independence and confidence by being a strong, compassionate role model. She had boundless energy, cared deeply for those around her, and was generous with her time. Faye befriended so many and maintained meaningful relationships with colleagues and students long after they left her classroom.
Faye found joy in the simple pleasures of everyday life — family, gardening, reading, friendships, dancing, socializing, and hosting gatherings. She cherished many friendships and memories made during her retirement; friends at Saddlebag Lake, participating in yoga, dancing and varied exercise classes, attending dances and travelling with friends and family. Faye loved her family and friends deeply and valued every moment spent with them. She was a firecracker with a sharp sense of humour, blessed with confidence and fierce honesty. Her home was always open, filled with hugs, laughter, light‑hearted conversation, great music, and refreshing floats in the pool.
Faye shared her energy, humour, and kindness freely. She made life brighter and better for everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and colleagues.
Friends and family are invited to attend Faye’s Celebration of Life on Saturday November 7, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Carriage Hall, 25 Brock St. W., in Tillsonburg. If people would like to donate on behalf of Faye, her family is asking to please consider VON Sakura House, Woodstock, Ontario.
