Gary MacDonald

          Gary MacDonald passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a long and complicated medical journey.  He is survived by his partner Alice, daughter Leanne, grandson Alex, and siblings Terry (Alex), Perry (Deb), Sherri (Dale), and Lee, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Gloria and Bill Balls.  Gary was adored by his many nieces, nephews and friends.  He was predeceased by his parents Jim and Jean MacDonald, and brother Barry.

          A plumber by trade, Gary found his calling as maintenance manager for nursing homes.  He enjoyed conversations with the residents, listening to their stories, especially veterans.  His career took them to Toronto and Peterborough.  They lived in the Kawarthas for 20 years before returning to Woodstock when Gary’s health deteriorated.  Throughout his medical journey he spent considerable time in hospital where he received consistently excellent care.

          Gary was a kind and loyal guy who was always willing to lend a hand.  He loved chatting about his and Alice’s year long Arizona trip; their trips to Dubai, Newfoundland, and the West Coast, just to name a few.  Gary was a very sweet soul who lived life on his own terms and exited in the same way.  CNN and Nascar have lost one of their most faithful viewers.

          We would like to thank all of Gary’s doctors…in Peterborough: Dr. Hughes and Dr. Thompson; in Woodstock: Dr. Labruzzo, Dr. Almane, Dr. El Saviti, and Dr. Sohaib; in London: Dr. Inculet, Dr. Klein, Dr. Khan, and Dr. Huang.

          In keeping with Gary’s wishes there will be no public service.  Wareing Cremation Services, 225 Norwich Ave., Woodstock, Ontario has been entrusted with Final Arrangements.  Your messages of remembrance and condolence may be shared here at www.wareingcremation.ca
