In Loving Memory of George Wilcox
February 11, 1944 - June 21, 2023

George Wilcox, a beloved husband, father, papa, and brother, bid farewell to this world on June 21, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Born on February 11, 1944, George lived a life filled with strength, determination, and a heart brimming with affection. Throughout his 79 years, he touched the lives of many with his generous spirit, unwavering loyalty, unimageable work ethic and contagious sense of humor.
George's journey was interwoven with the love of his life, Candace (nee Bertrand), to whom he was happily married for an incredible 55 years. Their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them, a testament to the enduring power of love and commitment. Together, they created a nurturing and loving home for their daughters, Kerensa and Courtney (Sameer). George is predeceased by his parents George and Helen Wilcox and brother David. He leaves behind his siblings Rick, John, Denise, Pat, Geraldine.  As a devoted Papa, George reveled in the joys of grandparenthood, doting on his beloved grandchildren, Louis, and Winnie. The imprint of Papa George's love and guidance will forever be etched in their tender hearts, shaping their lives and serving as a testament to the lasting impact he had on them. They, in turn, stand as a precious part of his legacy, carrying his spirit forward with every step they take.
George's strong-willed and stubborn nature was part of his charm, but it was his enormous heart that truly defined him. He had a remarkable capacity for compassion, always extending a helping hand to those in need. George's hands could fix and build anything, a testament to his resourcefulness and determination.
While he was commonly referred to as the "Window Guy" by many, George was a man whose life brimmed with a multitude of passions and interests. From the tranquil art of fishing to the immersive world of books, he found joy and solace in various pursuits. Animals, particularly dogs, held a special place in his heart, embodying unwavering loyalty and companionship. His insatiable thirst for knowledge drove him to devour anything related to war and the military, delving into the intricacies of history and strategy. Furthermore, George possessed a wealth of expressions that he liberally shared, often catching others off guard with his unique wit and wisdom, some of which are too colorful to be put into print. His vibrant persona left an indelible mark on all who knew him, forever enriching their lives with his remarkable range of interests and unforgettable personality.
When George's time came, he faced it with dignity, strength, and an unwavering love for those who had preceded him. His departure leaves an immense void in the hearts of his loved ones, who will forever miss his presence, his laughter, and his unconditional love. Special thanks to Dr. Sondhi and his palliative care team. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to VON Sakura House, Woodstock, Ont. A celebration of life will be held in September with details to follow. Wareing Cremation Services, 225 Norwich Ave., Woodstock have been entrusted with Final Arrangements. As George would say “Have a good one”.
