Gerald W. Goobie

May 2, 1941 — October 9, 2025

Delhi, Ontario

Peacefully, in the comfort of his home surrounded by family, Jerry passed away in the late afternoon of October 9, 2025, at the age of 84.

Jerry was the fun-loving husband and best friend of forty-nine years to Karen.  Lovingly remembered by his daughter Wendy (Brad). Cherished Poppa to Sara (Jerry) and Samantha (Justin).  The eldest brother of Ron (Denise), Ken (Gladys) and Cy (Tracy).  Brother-in-law to Fred, John, Rick (Judy) and Catherine (Gene).  Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.  Long time friend of Bob (Barb) and René (Claudette).  Jerry was predeceased by his brother Gord, son Barry, and daughter-in-law Lois.

Jerry was born on May 2,1941 in Cross Roads Country Harbour in Nova Scotia.  The family moved to the big city of Hamilton when he was 12 years old.  Jerry spent 49 years behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler sharing stories and smiles with all his friends on the road.  When he wasn’t on the road Jerry liked to relax and enjoy a cold beer while watching Karen cut the grass as he tinkered away at his handy-man projects.  Jerry loved traveling across the country, camping with their trailer and sitting around a bonfire.

It was always important that everyone was having a good time, and Jerry was known for being able to make anyone smile with one of his silly faces.  He believed in working hard, enjoying life and keeping his loved ones close.  Jerry’s final ride may be over, but his journey continues in the memories he left behind and in every mile of open road that stretches toward the horizon.

We appreciate the countless family members, friends, colleagues and neighbours who have loved him over the years as well as the nurses and personal support workers in the later stages of Jerry’s life.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Donations in Jerry’s honour made to the Alzheimer Society of Haldimand Norfolk are appreciated.
