Gordon Gardner - Celebration of Life

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday April 26, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m., 

at the Innerkip Masonic Hall, 70 Blandford Street, Innerkip, Ontario.

In Loving Memory of Gordon Merritt Gardner

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Gordon Merritt Gardner on April 9, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Gord will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 47 years, Lorna, and their children: Amanda and James, Candice and Kyle. He was a proud and cherished Papa to Dallas, Shaela, Peyton, and Oliver. Gord’s one-liners, sharp mind, and easy smile will be deeply missed by all who had the joy of knowing him.

He will be welcomed at the Rainbow Bridge by his loyal companions Sparks and Buster, who brought him years of unconditional friendship.

Gord had an insatiable curiosity and a lifelong love of learning. A proud licensed electrician, he took great satisfaction in his trade and the work he accomplished. That same spark (pun intended—he would’ve appreciated that) extended into every corner of his life. Whether he was custom-designing software for industrial machinery, building canoes by hand in his shop, or just quietly fixing something no one else could figure out, Gord tackled every challenge with calm confidence and sharp focus.

But perhaps what he’ll be remembered for just as fondly was his quick wit, perfectly timed one-liners, and legendary collection of dad jokes. Gord’s sense of humour was ever-present—dry, clever, and guaranteed to get a groan or a laugh (sometimes both). His playful spirit could light up a room as easily as he could wire one.

We are deeply grateful to the care providers who supported Gord over the past few years. Their compassion and dedication helped him remain in the home he loved, living life on his own terms, with dignity and comfort. A special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at the Woodstock Hospital Critical Care Unit and Palliative Care Ward for their caring support of the family and for helping keep Gord comfortable in his last days.

Gord’s legacy is one of curiosity, craftsmanship, laughter, and love—a life well lived and deeply treasured.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday April 26, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Innerkip Masonic Hall, 70 Blandford Street, Innerkip, Ontario. A second gathering will be held in Island Grove on Saturday June 7, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Gestures of remembrance marking Gord’s life may be made to Alzheimer Society SouthWest Partners – Oxford Office.
