In Loving Memory of Harry James Force
Harry James Force passed away peacefully on Thursday October 29, 2026, at the age of 82.
Born and raised on a farm in Norwich, Ontario, Harry was one of eight children born to the late Austin Force and Mildred (Oberlin) Force. Growing up alongside his brothers and sisters, Harry often spoke fondly of his family and the many memories they shared throughout the years. Harry was predeceased by his brothers Carl Force (Leona), Bob Force (Dora), Hubert Force (Shirley), and Lloyde Force (Sheila). He will be lovingly remembered by his sister Betty Poppovich, his brother Keith Force and wife Rosemary, his sister Patricia Guillmette and husband Jacque, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
Harry's life journey took him through several communities before he found his long-term home in Woodstock, Ontario. Following time spent in St. Thomas, the Oxford Regional Centre, and London, Harry became part of the Woodstock and District Developmental Services (WDDS) community in 1984. Over the next four decades, he built meaningful relationships, shared countless experiences, and became a valued and familiar member of the community.
Harry found joy in life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed outings for coffee, especially trips to Tim Hortons on warm, sunny days. Those who knew Harry will fondly remember that he loved warm weather and was never shy about expressing his dislike for the cold. His routines, sense of comfort, and appreciation for the little things brought happiness to both Harry and those who shared in his life. Throughout his 42 years with the WDDS community, Harry touched the lives of many people through his presence, friendships, and the connections he fostered with family, friends, housemates, and support staff. He will be remembered for the life he lived, the relationships he cherished, and the lasting impact he made on those fortunate enough to know him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday November 14, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Woodstock and District Developmental Services Main Office, 212 Bysham Park Drive, Woodstock, Ontario. Those wishing to honour Harry's memory may make a donation to a charity of their choice in his name.
The family extends their sincere appreciation to the many individuals who supported Harry throughout his life and helped him remain connected to the people, experiences, and community that meant so much to him.
Harry James Force will be dearly missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of all who knew him.
Rest peacefully, Harry.
