Tillsonburg, formerly Woodstock, Ontario

In Loving Memory of Harry Williams

Harry Williams was born on January 19, 1933, in Hamilton, Ontario.  He spent most of his childhood in Gravenhurst, Ontario, where his lifelong passion for fishing and hunting began.  Harry was the youngest son of James and Dorothy.  He was predeceased by his brothers, John and Norm, and his sisters, Violet and Mary.

Harry raised his children, Chris Williams (deceased), Jeff Williams, and Kim Williams O’Flynn, in Woodstock, Ontario, with his first wife, Dorothy (Moir) Williams.  He was predeceased by his beloved partner of 44 years, Patty Sitts, with whom he resided in Ingersoll, Ontario.  Harry was a much-loved Papa to Sarah Sherwood (Andrew), Natasha Doy (Shaun), Jonathan Green and Dina Sandford.  He was a proud Grandpa to Emmett Williams, Ulric Koopman, and Harrison Koopman.  He was blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, Tyson, Aubree, and Brycen Sherwood, and Kylie, Hunter, and Dexter Doy.

Harry loved fishing, from the boat he refurbished, on Lake Erie, as well as making frequent trips to the French River.  He also enjoyed hunting trips with his buddies at the hunt camp.  An avid camper and a very social fellow, Harry loved bringing people together.  His guitar and harmonica playing would draw neighbours to the campfire, where the good times and music often continued into the wee hours of the night.  He also enjoyed Patty’s favourite pastime, NASCAR, and together they travelled to many races and events.  After retiring from Standard Tube, where he worked as a dedicated welder for more than 30 years, Harry could often be found in his work shed.  If he couldn’t fix something, it was truly broken!

The family extends a special thank you to PeopleCare Tillsonburg for the exemplary care and compassion shown to Harry.

Cremation has taken place.  Harry’s life will be celebrated by scattering his ashes in some of his favourite places.  If desired, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer Society Southwest Partners would be appreciated.
