Helen E. M. Wakeford

          Helen Wakeford was born in Valens, Ontario on May 3, 1942, to Robert and Jessie Stalker.  Helen passed peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday January 11, 2026, at Woodstock Hospital.

          Helen is lovingly remembered by her son Paul Wakeford and his spouse Jodie; Cindy Dixon and her spouse Billy; and Penny Suttis and her husband Paul.  She was a proud Grama to Emily, Beth, and Arden (Wakeford); Brandon and Brad (Suttis); and Lyncoln (Dineen) and was blessed with several great-grandchildren.  She is survived by her sister Bessie, sister-in-law Doreen, and many nieces and nephews.  Helen was predeceased by her spouse Leonard Rock (2011), her son-in-law Jim Dixon (2022), as well as her parents and siblings.

          Helen grew up in the Cambridge area alongside her many siblings and later began raising her own family there.  She eventually relocated to Stratford, Ontario for several years before purchasing and operating a restaurant in Embro.  Upon retirement, she moved to Woodstock, where she lived for many years.  Helen greatly enjoyed tending to her gardens and spending time visiting with family whenever she had the chance.

          The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Caressant Care Nursing Home in Woodstock, as well as the staff at Woodstock Hospital, for the compassionate care shown to Helen over the past several years.

          At Helen’s request, there will be no formal Service.  Interment will take place at a later date.  Wareing Cremation Services, 225 Norwich Ave., Woodstock, Ontario has been entrusted with Final Arrangements.  Your messages of remembrance and condolence may be shared here at www.wareingcremation.ca
