Ian G. Smith

          It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ian Gregory Smith, 40, of Woodstock, Ontario on Friday June 19, 2026.  He was at Victoria Hospital surrounded by loved ones.

          Born on November 13, 1985, Ian was the beloved son of the late Allan Smith and Ann King, cherished stepson of Eric King, and treasured brother of Sara Bevilacqua (Alex), and Emily King.  He will be deeply missed by his nephews Max and Will Bevilacqua, his loving aunts, uncles and cousins, and his many, many friends.  He will also be missed by his Dog Birdie.

          Ian was a beacon of kindness and generosity and the person that said “welcome” at any get together.  He cherished time spent with family and friends and his outgoing nature enabled him to draw people together from all walks of life.  Ian will be remembered for his love of wrestling and music, attending may wrestling events and concerts throughout his life.  He was a huge Boston Bruins fan, alone amongst Toronto Maple Leaf fans.  Ian was also very intelligent, charismatic and witty.  His sense of humour will be remembered with wide smiles.  He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and joyful memories.

          The family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all of the Staff at Woodstock Hospital and Victoria Hospital for the excellent care that they gave Ian, and the unwavering empathy and compassion they gave to us.

          A Celebration of Life will be planned for later in the year.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a memorial donation be made to Indwell.ca (Woodstock) – an organization that Ian volunteered with that was very important to him.
