Jeanne Olliver

d. October 2, 2023

Jeanne Carol Olliver
‘Chief’
December 14, 1936 – October 2, 2023
Jeanne went very gently in that Good Night with her only nephew Chris and his wife Karen holding her hands as her eyes closed for the last time.  She had toughed it out with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease for the last few years of her life. In the end, her heart couldn’t withstand it.
Predeceased by her loving, devoted husband and travelling companion of 57 years, Leslie Reginald Olliver, who passed away in 2015, older brother Donald William Liddiard (d. 2010) of Thornbury, Ontario, parents Charles ‘Chuck’ and Jean Liddiard (nee Houghton), and first cousin Sharon Merritt.  Jeanne is survived by Chris and Karen Liddiard (London, Ontario), niece Kathy L. Grant and her husband Bill (Aurora, Ontario), sister-in-law Joan Marilyn Liddiard (Aurora, Ontario), first cousin Shirley-Ann Houghton (Brampton, Ontario), four grand-nieces and five great-grand nieces and nephews.
‘Auntie’ Jeanne and Uncle Les didn’t have children of their own, so their international travelling began early in their marriage with their first big trip abroad being to Iran for 3 years in the early 1960’s when Les, an electrical PEng., was part of the team from Ontario Hydro that provided consultative expertise to the Iranian government on dam construction.  At that time Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi ruled Iran and the dictatorial regime that Auntie Jean experienced there as a young woman no doubt begat both her extraordinarily liberal, progressive views for a woman of her generation and many, many astonishing stories told to her family for years after. Auntie Jeanne didn’t have a university education, but oh, she was well read!  She read thousands of books over the years; to finish off five in one week wasn’t unknown.  Karen will miss her long conversations, usually over egg salad sandwiches, about what books she simply must read and Chris will miss the humbug (or two…) always offered from Grandma Jean’s special jar and the stories distilled from a full life.
Final Arrangements were entrusted to Wareing Cremation Services, Tillsonburg, Ontario.  Interment of Jeanne’s ashes will take place at a later date.  Your messages of remembrance and condolence may be shared here at wareingcremation.ca
