Joan Elizabeth Hartley

           It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joan Elizabeth Hartley (nee Loosmore), at the age of 96, residing at Woodingford Lodge.  Joan was born in Ingersoll, Ontario on October 22, 1929.

          Joan was predeceased by her husband Clare (2015).  Joan is survived by her children Terra, Brenda (Terry 2024), Stephen (Sue), and Kent.  She was a proud grandmother to Jody (Jason), Jamie (Doug), and Luke (Shannon).  Her pride and joy were her seven great grandchildren.  Joan was predeceased by her siblings Ruth Loosmore and Bill Loosmore.  She will be remembered by her sister in-law Agnes.

          Joan spent many years as a registered nurse at the Woodstock General Hospital.  Her joy was being around her horses.  She enjoyed gardening and cooking.  She spent endless hours creating crafts.  You never knew what the next project would be.  Joan was involved in the UCW group at Central United Church along with singing in the choir and participating in “Pies R Us”.  She also enjoyed her 10th Line Ladies group.  After Central Church closed she became a member of St. David’s United Church.  After their retirement Joan and Clare travelled the world from the west to east coast of Canada, to Europe, Cuba, Australia and Florida.  They made many friends along the way.

          Special thanks go to Woodingford Lodge Staff in Orchard Lane.  Joan was loved by all who cared for her the past 9 years.

          A private service will be held in the Spring of 2026.  Donations in memory of Joan made to the Alzheimer Society Southwest Partners or the Woodstock Hospital Foundation are appreciated.
