Joan Jessup

Joan Yvonne Jessup (nee Stewart) passed away in her sleep at 3:20 a.m. on Thursday January 20, 2022, in her 92nd year, at Woodstock Hospital.
Joan is predeceased by her husband James (Nov 2007), her son Ken (Oct 2003), parents Vergil and Gladys Stewart, brother Glen, in laws Ruth and Ernie Young, and Marion and Jack Nesbitt. Joan is survived by her children: Greg (Kathy), Sandi (Ciro), Alan (Sylvie), and daughter-in-law Dorothy (Greg). Grandmother of Tricia (Chad), Elena (Dan), Megan (Brandon), Jeremy (Carling), Alicia, Jamie (Allison), Zachary (Molly), Sebastien, and Vincent. Great Grandmother of Kyle, Nathaniel, Sophia, Sammy, Selena, Wyatt and Waylon.

She will be missed by her sister Carol, sister-in-law Ruby, nephews Robert, Jim (Cora), Bob (Barb), Frank (Susan), Ron (Carol), Thom (David), and niece Linda (Dan), several great nieces and nephews, and by her special friends Marion Murphy and Pat Jaskari.
In the days prior to her passing Joan reflected on her life, people and events that were significant and as she described good fun (you know who you are), some of her final words were: "with no regrets".
When she left our home on January 5th, one of the Paramedics asked her what she did to get to be almost 92 years of age.  She replied with a grin and a twinkle in her eye, “a big glass of red wine or a good shot of whiskey each day".
A donation to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers would be appreciated - or better still, call an old friend and have a good long chat...she always enjoyed those phone calls!
We often joked that you could set a clock by her as she would always arrive in our kitchen and pour herself a drink every afternoon at 5pm. So in honour of Joan, some afternoon, pause for a moment at 5 pm and tip a glass in memory of her!
Our greatest thanks and appreciation to Kathy Chrysler and her staff at Caring Services for Seniors. Joan adored each and every one of you and enjoyed your daily visits to get her up and going for the day.
A special thank you to Dr Kirk, Dr Zaib, Dr Abdulhussein, Woodstock EMS, Kelly from Life Labs Home Service, Pharmacy Corner, Marilyn Van den Borre from Nursing Foot Care for Seniors, and Nicki McDonald her hairstylist. Your continued support and assistance over the last nine years has helped to keep her at home, which she not only enjoyed but truly appreciated.
We would like to express our gratitude to the Staff at Woodstock Hospital. Your care and compassion is truly remarkable, particularly on this admission.
To the team on 2300 “Thank You”. Everyone went that extra mile to keep us informed, and the care and support you gave to Mom, and to us, was second to none.
Katie, I will always be grateful to you for professionalism and kindness as you cared for Mom in her final hours; it never be forgotten.
Final Arrangements have been entrusted to Wareing Cremation Services, 225 Norwich Ave., Woodstock, Ontario. Joan will be interred along with Jim and Ken at Willow Bank Cemetery in Gananoque sometime this Summer when COVID restrictions allow us to get together. Your messages of condolence and remembrance may be shared at wareingcremation.ca
