John Michael Lund

John passed away peacefully at University Hospital, London, Ontario with his wife and son by his side on October 28, 2020, following complications from pneumonia.

Loving companion and husband of 45 years (36 married) to his wife Deb. Devoted Father and Father in law to Andrew and Nicole Lund and very proud Grandpa to his little grandson Bear. Dear brother to his heartbroken sister Stella (Terry) Chattington. Dear brother in law to Steve Manning, Dave (Joan) Manning and John (Connie) Manning. Loving Uncle to Jennifer (Cameron) Christie, Leigh Chattington, Angela (Paul) Hammond, Jason (Roshika) Manning, Troy Manning, Kayla Manning, Connor Devries, Briar (Matt) Dean, Dillon (Amanda) Devries, Scott (Ashley) Manning and Bailey Manning. Great Uncle to Ayla, Alex and Claire Hammond, Victoria Manning, Hunter Christie and Finn, Aurora and Summer Dean. Predeceased by his parents John and Evelyn Lund, Mother and Father in law Sally and Keith Manning, sisters Karetta (Bill) Watters and Helen Lund as well as Sister in law Susan Manning.

John will be sorely missed by his furry companions Meatball, Blackie, Gus and Hank.

John was a very proud former dealer of Canadian Tire Stores in Exeter, Ingersoll and Woodstock Ontario. He was happiest working hard alongside his employees and considered them to be more co-workers and friends than staff members. He built some wonderful friendships over the years, especially with Ray Curry and Rodger Pullen.

John was the most stubborn, bull-headed, irritating, hard working guy who did everything at warp speed. Never a dull moment! But he was also the most compassionate, loving, fair, generous, fierce friend, father and husband you could wish for.

Our world is going to be a much slower and quieter place without him.

At John’s request there will be no visitation or funeral. Instead, please think of John with a glass (or 3) of wine (preferably red), enjoy a thick juicy medium-rare steak, and eat as many Nanaimo bars as you can! If you love someone tell them now and every day how much, because life can change in a moment.

Donations in John’s memory to Canadian Tire Jumpstart or charity of your choice would be appreciated and may be made directly or by cheque through Wareing Cremation Services, 225 Norwich Ave., Woodstock, Ont. N4S 3V8, entrusted with arrangements.   Your messages of condolence may be shared at www.wareingcremation.ca
