It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Paroutis on October 18, 2026. He died surrounded by his family and faithful to his God, Jehovah. There is no doubt that his loss will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.
John was a beloved husband to Stella for 54 years. He was a loving father to three sons and three daughters-in-law, a caring brother, and an adoring Papou to his four beautiful grandchildren.
He loved his family and his God, Jehovah, more than anything. He was a man of strength and integrity, but he was also humble, caring, kind, generous and funny. He had a spirited sense of humour and loved making people laugh and smile. Whenever he had a joke to tell, he would get this little twinkle in his eye and his face would light up.
John worked hard for his family as a skilled welder/fitter for over 30 years and was respected by his peers for his craftsmanship. At home, you would often find John sitting by the firepit in the backyard, cooking at the BBQ, helping in the garden, listening to music, or quietly reading on the couch beside the window while keeping one eye on the squirrels climbing his walnut tree. He loved to entertain! His house was always full of good food, family, friends, laughter and love.
At his core, though, John was a helper. He truly loved people, and up until his death, he remained focused on one thing: caring for those around him in any way he could. Life without our dear John will never be the same. Our hearts will be broken until we meet again. – John 5:28, 29
We would also like to acknowledge and thank the doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers in palliative care and at Innisfree Hospice House who took such outstanding care of John and our family. Your presence and care during his final days brought all of us peace and comfort. Your hugs, kind words and guidance will stay with us always. We are truly grateful.
