With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our brother, Joseph Gilles Thomas Thibodeau in his 74th year, on September 28, 2026 at Sakura House in Woodstock Ontario.
He is survived by his daughters Jennifer Birch (Scott), Melissa Thibodeau and granddaughter Peyton Yeo. He was predeceased by his parents Yvon and Thérèse (Pelletier), and brother Réal (Mona Legault). Gilles is survived by his siblings Suzette Corriveau (late Fernand), Jacques (Monique), Alain (Wanda), Suzanne, Line MacGillivray (Al), Serge (Denise), Violette (Maria Silveira), Bernard (Bev), and Carole Michiels (Wayne). He will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Gilles started his career as a Tool and Die Maker and later returned to college to acquire certification as a Metallurgist. He was a private, sensitive man. He was tech-savvy and enjoyed learning how to use new gadgets and software. Gilles was the middle child in a family of 11 children. He was often not comfortable with large gatherings - an unfortunate trait for a man with such a large and boisterous family. Still, he found ways to connect with family members on his own terms, sharing meaningful conversations and memories on a more intimate level. He was well liked by and appreciated his neighbours at Cambrocourt Manor.
Great thanks to Sakura House for their compassion and care during his short time there.
At Gilles request, there will be no funeral. Cremation has taken place. Wareing Cremation Services, 225 Norwich Ave., Woodstock has been entrusted with Final Arrangements. Your messages of remembrance and condolence may be shared here at www.wareingcremation.ca
