Juliana Knautz

Juliana ‘Julie’ Knautz passed away peacefully at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, with her devoted family by her side on Friday June 28, 2024, in her 92nd year.  Beloved wife of the late Joseph (Joe) Knautz.  Loving Mother of two children, Karen Knautz of Tillsonburg, and Robert (Louise) Knautz of Ottawa, and Grandmother to Jon Knautz of Los Angeles.  Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Maria (Erb) Nahr. 

Julie was born on July 25, 1931, in Szarasz, Hungary, and grew up on a tobacco farm in Tillsonburg, Ontario.  Julie and Joe were married in 1947 and celebrated 65 years on October 18th, 2011.  Julie worked as a hairdresser in their first home and, later, Julie worked as a hairdresser in their first home and, later, Julie and Joe opened J.C. Knautz Wholesale clothing store in Tillsonburg, where the inseparable couple worked together for 40 happy years.  In her spare time, Julie enjoyed baking, landscaping and architecture, designing two of the couple’s homes.  For the last 20 years of her life, Julie maintained realistic optimism about her advanced rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, and exudative macular degeneration, actively deciding to stay positive and hopeful. 

In keeping with Julie’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service.  Julie’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Chowdhury, the compassionate nurses at the Tillsonburg Hospital, and to CarePartners Community Care Services’ wonderful nurses on care team 4.  If you wish to honour Julie, we ask that you consider donating to the Arthritis Society Canada, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.  May God bless you and your family.
