Karen M. Hodgins

      It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Hodgins at Sakura House on Friday November 15, 2024, at the age of 75.  Karen was a loving and unwaveringly devoted mother, grandmother, and friend whose kindness, strength, and sense of resilience will be remembered by all who knew her. 

      Beloved mother of Kendra Emerson (Brad) of Ingersoll, and Krista Crawford (Lee) of Rennes, France (formally Woodstock), and the fiercely proud Nana of three grandchildren, Ethan, Avelea, and Adeline; her family was the center of her world.  She found great joy in watching her grandchildren grow and flourish, always there to cheer them on and help them in any way she could.  Karen is preceded in death by her sister Carol Elliott formerly of Exeter, and her parents Orville and Mary Hodgins formerly of Woodstock.

     Karen served as a secretary for many years at Huron Park Secondary School and was a long-time resident of Beachville, Ontario where she raised her two daughters.  She was a multi-time cancer survivor, whose courage, grit, and determination to fight through adversity was an inspiration to many.  Karen’s memory will live on through the love she shared with her daughters, grandchildren, and all those fortunate enough to have known her. 

     A Celebration of life will be held to celebrate Karen at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to  VON Sakura House, Woodstock, Ontario.
