Karen Mitchell

          It is with deep sadness that the family of Karen Ann Mitchell (née Johnston) announce her peaceful passing on Monday September 22, 2025 in Woodstock, Ontario.

          She will be lovingly remembered by the love of her life, her husband: Don Carter; her children: Ken Likins (Tracy), Becky Wigand (Rob), and John Mitchell (Lyndsay); her grandchildren: Cailey, Shae, Tyler, Sarah, Matt, Jorden, Nick, and Avery; and her great grandchildren: Kiana, Jayden, Kai, and Mason.  Karen was predeceased by her parents, May and Cecil Johnston, and her four older siblings, Donalda Johnston, Allan Johnston, John (Bud) Johnston, and Joan Vigar.

          Karen was born on November 4, 1944 in Galt, Ontario.  As a child, Karen was independent, bold, strong willed, adventurous, compassionate, and loving.  She spent most of her time outdoors. She enjoyed fishing, exploring, and bringing home every stray animal or critter she came across.  Karen, her parents, and siblings lived in various small towns in Ontario but eventually settled in Woodstock, Ontario where she spent her teenage years and entire adult life.

          Karen was a hairdresser for over 30 years in the community which she took great pride in.  She loved being with and taking care of her family, cooking, baking, crocheting, and spending time doing anything and everything with Don.

          Karen and Don spent the most amazing 43 years together.  They were inseparable and shared a love for each other like no other.  Just being together meant everything to them both.  She will be greatly missed by her whole family who will carry on as she always did, with strength, boldness, determination and most of all with love.

          Karen spent her last few years at Caressant Care in Woodstock where she inherited her second family of nurses and PSW’s that provided exceptional care and support for her and her whole family.  Please know she loved all of you as you loved her.  Thank you so much for everything.

          As per her wishes, cremation has taken place.  A private family celebration of life will be held with Karen’s immediate family.
