Katharina Becht

January 13, 1935 — March 6, 2024

Tillsonburg, Ontario

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Katharina 'Kathie' Becht on Wednesday March 6, 2024, in her 90th year.

Beloved wife of Jack for 67 years.  Dearest Mother of Ron Becht, Bob (Shirley) Becht and Deb (Barry) Iler.  Loving Oma of Ashley DeRyk, Meagan (Kyle) Belaen, Katie Becht and Jordan Iler.  Adoring great Oma to Taylor Howe, Keegan Howe, Talan Belaen, and Nate Balean. Beloved sister to Elizabeth (late Rudy) Hungler, Eva (John) Becht, and the late Henry Justus. Dearly missed sister-in-law to Elizabeth Maxim, Henry Becht and Kathy Becht. Favourite Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Kathie was born January 13, 1935, in Ecseny, Hungary to the late Katharina (Stickl) and Jacob Justus. The family immigrated to Canada in 1952, settling in Taber, Alberta before moving to the Delhi area. In 1955, she met the love of her life at the Delhi District German Hall. Their shared love of dancing was an instant attraction that would live on for many years. They married on April 6, 1957, and started to build their family in 1958.

Kathie’s love of family was very strong, and she found great happiness seeing her family together. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren playing Yahtzee. She was an amazing cook and baker, and her recipes will continue to be carried on by her family forever. She loved to play bingo, and enjoyed crocheting and would crochet afghans for anyone she heard was expecting a baby, including her doctors.  She was our rock, and our family will never be the same without her.  No one loved more intensely, and no one will be more deeply missed than our Oma.

Cremation has taken place.

Visitation for Kathie will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 60 Young Street, Tillsonburg on Saturday March 16, 2024, at 10 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 11 a.m.  A light luncheon will follow.  A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.  Memorial donations to the Arthritis Society or Peace Lutheran Church Tillsonburg would be greatly appreciated.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Barry Roth for his exceptional care of Kathie over the years. He held a special place in her heart and his kindness and care went over and above.  Our additional gratitude extends to the Maple Manor staff for their kindness and support during Kathie’s time as a resident.

Wareing Cremation Services, 346 Simcoe St., Tillsonburg was entrusted with Final Arrangements.  Your messages of remembrance and condolence may be shared here at wareingcremation.ca
