Linda Matthews

Linda Matthews passed peacefully on June 20, 2022 after a brief battle with cancer at Sakura House Hospice, Woodstock, Ontario.

She will be missed by her children Becky Matthews (Mark Morgan), and Adam (Erin) Matthews, her grandchildren Cole, Tyler, Paige, Landen, and Addison, her brother Curtiss MacDonald (Faye) and his daughter Janette (Lilah), her sister Cindy MacDonald, and her sister in law Shelley Ellis (Kerry) and family. Predeceased by her parents Gordon and Marian MacDonald of Seaforth, Ontario, her former husband and alderman of the City of Woodstock Dave Matthews, and her in laws Dr. J.J. Matthews DDS and Betty Matthews.

Linda was a dedicated registered nurse at Woodstock General Hospital for over 40 years working in multiple capacities with most of her career dedicated to the emergency room department. She was past president of Victorian Order of Nurses, an alumni of Woodstock General Hospital and the University of Waterloo - Bachelor of Arts Major in 3 year general philosophy.

Linda was one of two Canadian nurses to go to Oklahoma and receive a commendation from Governor Keating for her medical contributions when the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building was bombed in 1995.

Words can never express our gratitude to all the staff at Sakura House, Woodstock Hospital - Cindy, Diane, Louise, and Palliative Staff, as well as 9th floor Surgery Staff at Victoria Hospital in London.

In lieu of flowers and cards, memorial donations to VON Sakura House are appreciated and may be made directly, or by cheque through Wareing Cremation Services, 225 Norwich Ave., Woodstock, Ontario who have been entrusted with Final Arrangements.
