Margaret Long

Margaret Jeanne (Howes) Long met and married her true love at the young age of 17 and was happily married for the next 57 years. Seven years ago - the love of her life passed away. The mother, grandmother and friend who loved social gatherings, Christmas and Boxing Day get togethers, family birthday parties, debating everything, playing cards and games with family and friends ceased finding happiness in the events and things that had always brought her pleasure. For Mom, the sun stopped shining, the birds stopped singing and the flowers stopped blooming. On Saturday July 1, 2023, Mom left us to be re-united with Dad after a brief illness.
Margaret was well known locally as the Bookkeeper at Long’s Lumbers in Langton where she worked together with her husband for many years until their retirement in 2005.
To those who really knew Margaret, we will forever think of her anytime we see a Harlequin Romance novel, the Home Shopping or Cooking Channel, NCIS and a glass of white wine.
Margaret will be missed by her daughters Dianne Long, Lisa (Paul) Louwagie, and Vicki (Dennis) Staley, and by her grandchildren Nicholas, Jordan (Emma), Jaime (Hannah), Mack (Kenzie), and Cole.  She is survived by sister-in-law Peggy Hicks (Mike), many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. She will be especially missed by lifetime friends Kathy and Hilary and her fluffy little friend Coco aka Scrappy.  Margaret was predeceased by her husband LeRoy, her parents Delmar and Phyllis Howes, parents-in-law Basil ad Elsie Long, brother-in-law Gerald Long and his wife Judy, sister-in-law Carol Van Haverbeke and her husband Wilmert, and her late brother-in-law Ken Hicks.
A sincere and heartfelt thank-you to the staff of Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital for the care, patience, understanding and attention you gave to Mom in her final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
