Marjorie Elliott

May 9, 1942 — July 3, 2025

Woodstock, Ontario

After a long and courageous battle with brain cancer, Marjorie Louise Elliott (nee Ryder) of Woodstock, Ontario passed away on July 3, 2025, with her daughter Helen Louise by her side, at Sakura House, Woodstock.

Marjorie was a longtime employee of the Woodstock Hospital.  She had a wide social circle of cherished friends and a passion for charity work including the Canadian Cancer Society and The Girl Guides of Canada.  As a busy mother of four she still became a Foster Mother, a care provider and Gramma Mardy to many children over the years.  She touched so many lives of children that are now grown adults and she will always remain in their hearts.

She was the Queen of our Family and Mom to Helen Louise Bee (Bob) of Woodstock, Diane Elliott-Beattie (Rick Heitzmann) of London, David Elliott (Sheryl) of Beachville, Danny Elliott (Christine Schofield) of Woodstock.  Beloved Gramma ‘GMa’ to Ryan Jennings (Bronwyn Bertles), Michael Jennings, Amanda Elliott (Andrew Lyoness), Meagan Heather (Lucas), Erin Elliott (Darian Roberts), Devin Elliott (Ashley Davidson), Katelyn St. Pierre (Nick), and Rebeca Elliott.  Great-Gramma ‘GG’ to Finn, Gray, Casey, Lola, Wyatt and Rory.  They will always be the stars in her eyes and gave her the extra power to fight her battle.  She will be lovingly remembered as the Big Sister to Lorraine Schaafsma (Lambert), Larry Ryder (Elaine Love), and Kathy Phelps.  Always held close to her heart by her sister Thelma Ryder.  Aunt Marjorie will be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews and their families.  Predeceased by her parents Fred and Florence Ryder (nee Ashworth), siblings Fred Henderson, John Ryder, Wick (Wilfred) Ryder, and her sisters-in-law Cindy Ryder and Dorothy Ryder.

The Elliott Family would like to express our sincere gratitude for the kindness and loving care Marjorie received from her care team, Dr. Maria MacDonald at the Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre at Victoria Hospital, the team of Nurses and Doctors at the Woodstock Hospital Chemotherapy/Infusion Clinic, and Dr. Sondhi and Dr. Fryer at Sakura House.

An extra thank you and a smile for the wonderful team members of Sakura House who made every day of Marjorie’s stay feel warm, inviting and like home.  All of you provided our family with respect, patience and kindness so we could spend the final days with our Mom/Gma/GG…….we will always be so grateful for your kindness and care.

Our family invites you to join us for a Celebration of Life on Saturday July 19, 2025, from 1 to 5 p.m., at the Woodstock Navy Club, 969 James Street, Woodstock, Ontario.  A private Graveside Service will take place for the immediate family on Monday July 21, 2025.  In honour of Marjorie’s wishes, memorial donations made to VON Sakura House or the Woodstock Hospital Foundation are appreciated.
