It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mark Hayward on Friday April 25, 2025, at the age of 69, following a brief illness. Mark was born in Woodstock, Ontario on November 9, 1955 to Keith (1995) and Doris (2024) Hayward.
Mark spent his life in the trucking industry working alongside his father at Hayward Transport, with the last 27 years driving for Verspeeten Cartage in Ingersoll. He is survived by his devoted wife Lynn, who has stood by his side for nearly 52 years, and by his loved son Cody (Kristina). Mark leaves behind his brother Scott (Judy) of Embro, his sister-in-law Judy Turner (Terry Hawtin) of Aurora, nieces Ashley (Corne), and Siracha. He will be missed by many cousins, longtime friends, and his work colleagues that knew him as "The Mayor".
He was a skilled historian specializing in the War of 1812, an avid fan of stock car racing (#49, & #48), and very proud of his family's accomplishments with Miss Supertest. Mark had the gift of gab to anyone who would listen. His happiest moments were spent at his favourite place in Long Point, vacationing at the family boathouse, when he wasn't shifting gears behind the wheel of his "Large Car".
To respect his wishes there will be no funeral service. The Hayward family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to neighbours, friends, family, and to Dr. Rachel Orchard along with her Staff for their compassionate care during this difficult time. Memorial donations to VON Sakura House would be appreciated.
