Mark Ripley

May 28, 1952 — April 4, 2026

Woodstock, Ontario

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mark Bryan Ripley on Saturday April 4, 2026, after a lengthy battle.  A man of remarkable skill and unwavering determination, Mark passed away, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, gentleness, and a deep love for his family.

Born in Chatham, Ontario on May 28, 1952, Mark was the son of the late Robert Ripley and Mary Poirier (nee Verhouven).  Mark is survived by his devoted wife of 27 years, Lori Ripley (nee Parrott).  He was the proud father of Matthew Ripley (Amber), and Shannon Ripley (Stan), and a caring step-father to Wendy Handel (John), Jenno Mayes (Mike), and Greg Sharp (Nadine).  He will be deeply missed by his eleven grandchildren, who brought him great joy.  Mark is survived by his siblings Dawn Ripley-Hutchison, Darlene Poirier, and Kevin Poirier, and was predeceased by his siblings Wayne Ripley and Cindy Surdakowski.

Mark’s professional journey was a testament to his "stick-to-it-ness"; whether working as a spray painter, an electronic engineer, or a slot technician, there was no problem he couldn’t solve.  His dedication was officially recognized when he received the OLG Opal Award, a prestigious honor that spoke to his expertise and character.  Beyond his career, Mark also gave his time and energy to his community, including his years in Bracebridge, Ontario as a hockey tournament director.  His leadership and passion for the game brought so many people together.

For the last 27 years, Mark called Woodstock, Ontario, home.  It was here that he and his beloved wife, Lori, built their personal oasis.    Mark’s backyard was his sanctuary, where he poured his heart into designing and building a stunning waterfall, pond, and intricate water features.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday May 9th, 2026, at the South Gate Centre, 191 Old Wellington St. S., in Woodstock, Ontario, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.  Family and friends are invited to drop in and share stories as we celebrate a life lived with purpose and heart.  In place of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to VON Sakura House in Woodstock, Ontario in recognition of their compassionate care.

“Gone from our sight but never our hearts, his love lives on in all who were lucky enough to have known him.”
