It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Innes (nee Ling) peacefully at Sakura House on Saturday November 30, 2024, at the age of 70. After a long, hard-fought battle with cancer, Mary can finally lay to rest with the love of her life, Phil.
Devoted mother of Alyssa Hodgson (Steve), Krista Innes, Derek Innes (Michelle), and proud Grandma of her six cherished grandchildren Avery, Parker, Jax, Rachel, Karlie and Alexus. Survived by her brother Don Ling (Isabelle) and her sisters Sharon Hagell (late husband Jim), Nancy Romanowitch (Terry), and Connie Carter (Scott), as well as her many nieces and nephews. Mary is preceded in death by her life-partner Phil Eatock, and her parents Norman and Dorothy Ling.
Mary was a warm-hearted soul whose love for her family was at the center of everything she did. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness. One of her favourite holiday traditions was coming up with different trivia games that she could enjoy with her family. Music was another great passion of hers - she could often be found dancing around the house to her favorite tunes or sharing a newly discovered song with her grandkids. Mary enjoyed sharing stories of her adventures growing up on her family’s dairy farm, just outside of Ingersoll, Ontario.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Staff and Volunteers at Sakura House for their warm compassion and care, as well as all of the Staff in the Oncology Department at LHSC for their support during Mary’s cancer journey.
Mary will forever live on in the songs she loved and the memories of the time she spent with those closest to her. She will be greatly missed.
“Life is short. Break the rules, forgive quickly, love truly, laugh uncontrollably, and never regret anything that made you smile.”
A Celebration of life will be held to celebrate Mary at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honour to VON Sakura House, Woodstock, Ontario.
