With Jeff and Michelle at her side, Neda Boterberg (nee Long) passed away peacefully on Sunday August 23rd, 2026, at Caressant Care Woodstock, at the age of 76.
Proud mother of Jeff Ward (Michelle Trothen). Neda was born on October 15, 1949 to the late Alfred Long (1974) and Glennis Long (nee John) (2001). She was predeceased by her husbands Chester Ward (1974) and Edward Boterberg (2012), and by her siblings Jean Anne Long (January 2026), and Ronald Long (July 2026). She is survived by her siblings Melvin (Sandra) Long of Langton, Janice (Jack) Sheldon of Woodstock, Pauline (Rin) Hill of Oshweken, and sister-in-law Gwen Long of Tillsonburg.
Neda was a stepmother and step-grandmother. She was predeceased by her stepson Jason Boterberg (2004) and is remembered by Jason’s son Brayden. She is also survived by her stepson Justin Boterberg of Simcoe and his children, Jayden and Stella.
We will fondly remember Neda for her uniquely balanced personality that met kindness and a force to be reckoned with, a laugh that filled the room and a tongue that would sting if she saw fit, and her often nurturing hand that never shied away from a long day of hard work. She had a lifelong love of gardening and country music. She enjoyed spending time in her gardens and listening to her favourite music, both of which brought her great happiness throughout her life.
Jeff and Michelle want to express their gratitude to the care team and staff at Caressant Care for the love, laughter, compassion and care that they provided Neda during her residency over the last 8 years.
In keeping with Neda’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday September 26th, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Carriage Hall, 25 Brock St. W., Tillsonburg, Ontario. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Tillsonburg Salvation Army Church and Community Services in Neda’s name or directly to Back to School Campaign .
Forever in our hearts.
