It is with immense sadness that we announce that the Bowman family Matriarch passed away on Saturday October 3, 2020, at People Care in Tavistock, Ontario.
She is predeceased by her loving husband Jim of 62 years in May 2019. Like her husband Jim, she put more into the world than she took out. Loving mother of 5 children; Julie Gibbons (Steve), Jeff Bowman (Chris), Bill Bowman (Jenny), Tracy Hulet and Jim Jr. Bowman. Proud Nana of 10 grandchildren; Matthew, Benjamin, Sarah, Josh, Sam, Maggie, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Ryan and Cody. Proud Great Nana of 7 great-grandchildren; Claire, Thomas, Quinten, Sullivan, Alistair, Robert and Henry.
Mom was a lioness. If you were one of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a sister, a family member, or lucky enough to be a close friend – then she would defend you, support you, and have your back. She was caring, nurturing and fiercely protective – a queen in her own right.
Pat was a dignified lady. She was beautiful, fiercely independent, private, nurturing, astute, and had a very bright mind. Family was her top priority in life. She was well-read and could accomplish anything she put her mind to. She was a talented seamstress, and she loved fashion, accessories, and jewellery. We teased her that she had radar that enabled her to pick out the best sale items and then mix and match pieces to put together well-styled outfits. She loved the arts and theatre.
Pat loved the many years she spent ballroom dancing and travelling with her husband in their motor home around North America. One of her favourite trips was to Paris and standing at the top of the Eiffel Tower. She enjoyed golfing with the ladies and said it is the one thing she did that made her feel free. She enjoyed spending time with her remaining sisters Audrey, Peggy, Mary and Susan.
Even when facing her husband’s cancer, her own cancer, and later a provisional diagnosis of Lewy Body dementia, she held her head high, pulled her shoulders back and moved forward.
A special thank you to the exceptional staff at People Care in Tavistock for their kindness and loving care during Mom’s last six months. Words cannot adequately express our gratitude. Cremation has taken place. A private celebration of life will take place when Mom’s ashes are interred beside Dad’s in the Ingersoll Rural cemetery.
Mom had a lot of respect for organizations that supported women and children. If desired, memorial contributions in Pat's name can be made to Ingamo Homes http://ingamohomes.com/donate.html or DASO www.daso.ca/donate.
