Patricia Schroeder

          Patricia Ruth Schroeder (Kerslake) left us on September 23, 2125 to be with Jake (August 12, 1932 - August 15, 2025), her husband of 68 years predeceased her by only a month.  Patricia was in her 89th year.

         Her absence will be deeply felt by her three children Sue-Anne, Sandra {Gary Lukas} and Dennis, along with her sisters Phyllis Case of Exeter, Hazel Crockford of Toronto and sister-in-law Marion Kerslake of Exeter.  She will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours all who have been nourished by her hospitality, delicious meals, and her love for family and friends.  Pat was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Elsie Kerslake, brothers Harold (Shirley), Elwyn (Wilma), Bob, and sisters Dorothy (Russel Waun), Ilene (Archie Webber), and brothers-in-law Donald Case, Chess Cornish, and Morley Crockford.

          Patricia was born on the Kerslake farm on the Kirkton Road, the youngest of Arthur and Elsie's eight children.  Her instincts for nurturing developed early, first caring for family pets and farm animals, and then tending to her nieces, nephews and the children of friends and neighbours.  In 1957 she married Jacob and moved to the Schroeder farm on the Dashwood Road.  An artist at heart, she created cozy arrangements with the antique furniture and household items on their century farm that gave family and friends a deep sense of home. She had a photographer’s eye, and the photos she took of her gardens and her home are treasured reminders of her warmth and her talent.

          Pat was also well known for her sense of humour, practical jokes, quick comebacks, and for always having the last word in any discussion. Her warm and welcoming smile will be missed by family and friends alike.

          Pat enjoyed and appreciated the visits she received in her last years at the Exeter Villa.  Special thanks to Karen Snow, Ron and Marion Cornish, Phyllis, Wendy and Pete Case, and Bob and Trudy Smith.  The family is especially grateful for the unending care and support from the Staff and Management of the Exeter Villa, and from Dr Lam.

          A Celebration of Pat's life will take place on Sunday October 19, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., at the Exeter Golf Club - Barn Restaurant, 40374 Kirkton Road, Centralia, Ontario N0M 1K0.  We invite all family and friends who have special memories of Pat to write them and send them to us at this email address: saeschroeder@gmail.com    Your memories will be read and shared at the Celebration of Life.
