Paul Lowes passed away quietly on April 2, 2026, at the age of 80 at Woodingford Lodge, Ingersoll, Ontario.
Born outside of Woodstock, Ontario, Paul was the only child of Vernon (1993) and Vera (nee Somers, 2010) Lowes. Due to breathing issues as a young child, the family relocated to Kingsville, Ontario’s southernmost town, hoping the lake air would help. It was there he met and married Cheryl, the dark-haired only child of Don (2018) and Irene (2015) Clark, and began their family. Paul’s work as a seed salesman with Funk Seeds brought the family back to Oxford County, where he and Cheryl settled in Innerkip and raised their sons, Mike and Matt. Following their retirements, Paul and Cheryl returned to the Kingsville family farm and enjoyed several winters in Arizona with their fifth wheel.
Paul enjoyed hunting, golfing, and fishing. The local fishing stores enjoyed Paul even more by the number of poles, lures, and tackleboxes he acquired. His favourite pastime, however, was cutting—grass or wood. A testament to Paul’s stubbornness was his refusal to buy a new lawnmower, despite Mike and Matt’s begging. He insisted on a new belt instead, which would inevitably come off, leaving the boys to avoid anything flying - tools or cuss words. Paul drove a great deal for his job, which helped when shuttling entire ball teams he coached. It was behind the wheel of a large seed van where he mastered the skill of steering with his knee, while simultaneously talking on a cell phone and lighting a cigar.
Paul leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Cheryl, also of Woodingford Lodge, Ingersoll, his son Matt (Paula) of Kitchener, his son Mike (Jenn), and his favourite granddaughter Kallie, all of Innerkip,
The family would like to thank the staff at Woodingford Lodge, Ingersoll, for their kindness and care.
An Open House to celebrate Paul’s memory will be held on Sunday April 26, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Craigowan Golf Club, 595838 Hwy 59 N., R.R. 6, Woodstock, Ontario. Donations in Paul’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
