Pauline Kelly

February 20, 1933 — April 3, 2024

Woodstock

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Pauline Mary Kelly (nee Schnurr) on Wednesday April 3, 2024, in Woodstock, Ontario at the age of 91.

Pauline is survived by her two children Patti Neill (nee Kelly) and Greg, and three grandchildren Jason Neill (Brad), Kelly Neill, and Jessie Neill (Ania).  She was predeceased by her husband Stanley Kelly, parents Theresa (nee Heisler) and Joseph Schnurr, and six siblings Tony, John, Joe, Katherine, Barbara, and Bernard.

Pauline was born on February 20,1933 in Regina, Saskatchewan to parents Theresa and Joseph Schnurr, who immigrated to Canada from Russia and Ukraine. She was the youngest of seven siblings. After moving to Southern Ontario with her family in her late teens, she began training as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in London, Ontario. It was during this time she met her future husband, Stanley Kelly, through mutual friends. They married on September 15,1956 at St. Mary’s Church in Woodstock, Ontario and moved into their new home on Alice Street. She gave birth to two children, Patti and Greg.

Pauline had a fulfilling career at Oxford Regional Centre (ORC) where she worked full-time as a Psychiatric Nurse Supervisor for over 25 years.  When she wasn’t working, she liked to stay busy gardening, tending to her ponds in her yard on St. Albans Crescent, boating on Lake Erie, and travelling in the motorhome with Stan. She was an avid sports fan and rarely missed a Toronto Maple Leafs or Blue Jays game.

She lived on St. Albans Cres. until moving into Oxford Gardens Retirement Home and then Caressant Care Nursing Home where she was treated with dignity and respect.  She was transferred to Woodstock General Hospital on April 1,2024 where she passed peacefully in her sleep two days later.  The Staff were compassionate and attentive in her final days.  There will be a private service for family at a time to be determined. Memorial donations made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada are appreciated.

Wareing Cremation Services, 225 Norwich Ave., Woodstock, Ontario has been entrusted with Final Arrangements.  Your messages of remembrance and condolence may be shared here at wareingcremation.ca
