Philip Herbert Allen

          It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Phillip Herbert Allen on September 19, 2025.  He was 86 years of age.  Philip was predeceased by his wife Sandra, and his immediate family members.  He is survived by his son Christopher and his wife Kristie, and his three grandchildren Adrian, Cameron, and Dylan.

          Phillip was born in Luton, England, five months before WW2 was declared, and orphaned at age 15, emigrating to Canada in 1960.  He worked as an auto mechanic for a number or years, mostly on British Classics.  He worked for Standard Triumph (Canada) in the mid 1960's preparing and maintaining the successful Team Triumph race cars, a Triumph Spitfire #106 and TR4A #107.  Philip studied at the Luton College of Technology, Ryerson University, University of Toronto and Trent University.  He was a Quality Control Manager and a Manufacturing Plant Manager in the paper and plastics industry for 20 years. In 1995 Philip returned to his love of the classic British cars.  He opened a repair shop Britcar Service in Oshawa, Ontario and latterly in Woodstock finally retiring in 2019 at the age of 80.

          Among his many qualifications, he was a Master Mariner Engineer (Royal Canadian Navy), a Master Mason, a Royal Arch Mason, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite, and a Shriner.

          Ever supportive of the British Classic car movement, Philip was a founding member of the Durham East Enders Car Club and organized the British Classic Car Show held in conjunction with the Embro Highland Games for a number of years.

          A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday October 5th, 2025, from 12 to 3 p.m., at the Woodstock Navy Club, 959 James Street, Woodstock, Ontario.  If desired, memorial donations made to an Abused Women's Shelter or an Animal Rescue Shelter of choice would be most appreciated.
