Renate Else Kueppers (nee Kuhn) passed peacefully in her 91st year with family by her side. Loving and devoted wife of Peter (predeceased), and caring mother of John (Janet), Hardy (Laurie), Roy (Sherrill), and Kirk. Survived by her brother Werner Kuhn (Doris) residing in Germany. Grandmother ‘Oma’ to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also loved by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Renate was loyal to her family and friends and attended St. John’s Anglican Church in Tillsonburg, Ontario. Renate immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1954, married Peter and settled in Toronto before moving to Tillsonburg in 1973. She enjoyed having her family together for celebrations, meals, or coffee and dessert. She could whip up something delicious in a short amount of time without a recipe and if necessary, with only a few ingredients. Renate will be missed by her family and many friends, including neighbours whom she often made and delivered muffins to. Renate maintained her youthful lifestyle, was energetic and able to live in her own home until she endured a stroke in late August of this year. Renate enjoyed time in her garden and kitchen where she made the most delicious German Potato Salad for special events.
Special thank you to Mom’s dear friends Martha Cook, and Lilian Mackenzie, and to her church family with special mention to Father Patrick, Vermell Stevens, and Carol Honsberger. Also, thank you to the kind and wonderful nurses in the Stroke Unit at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital that welcomed and assisted visiting family and friends.
In keeping with Renate's wishes cremation has taken place. If desired, memorial donations could be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to St. John's Anglican Church, Tillsonburg .
