Robert 'Bob' Walter Mitchell passed peacefully on Friday May 10, 2024, at VON Sakura House in Woodstock, Ontario, leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew him. His beloved wife, Diane, will miss him immensely.
Bob leaves behind a legacy cherished by his children: Warren (Ang) Mitchell, Pam Knoll, Corey Mitchell, Richard Mitchell (Krista Ruddy), and Christopher Mitchell. To his grandchildren, Jayden, Reilly, Jazmin, Kenady, Chloe, Mikala, Landon, and Emilie, he was affectionately known as Gramps and Grandpa.
A dedicated law enforcement officer, Bob served with pride for many years. Beginning his career with the Peterborough Police Force, he ascended to the role of a plainclothes Detective. Joining as a Constable in Mitchell, Ontario, he swiftly rose to the esteemed position of Chief, at the young age of 32, concluding his policing journey as the Chief in Paris, Ontario, in 1995.
Transitioning from law enforcement, Bob continued to safeguard others as the head of security at Couche-Tard and Petro Canada, a role he fulfilled until his retirement in 2017.
In his well-deserved retirement, he found joy at the shooting range, on the golf course, travelling and behind the wheel at Enterprise, relishing the camaraderie and banter with his cherished "buddies."
A special thanks to VON Sakura House for their endless kindness and care. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Sakura House.
